Willie J. “Perow” Ashley

Willie J. Ashley (Perow) was born in Rock Hill, SC on March 28, 1960. Willie was born to the late Corine and Willie Albert Ashley Sr. Willie grew up with his nine siblings: Elizabeth Boyd, Lorraine Hart, Hazel Ashley, Brenda White, Felicia Stewart, Felicia King, Charles English, Willie English, and Tonya Howell. He attended Rock Hill High School. When Willie was 18 years old, he made the journey to The Bronx, NY. While in The Bronx, he lived with his aunt Janie Mae and uncle Robert. Willie worked for Yasgur Realty Corp. for several years while also working as a mechanic, which was his passion. While in NY, Willie had two children Kimberly Topping of Gastonia, NC, and Ikinya Augustin of The Bronx, NY. His grandchildren include Charkem, Jaheim, Jade, Kennedy, and Kali. He also helped raise Tiffany Topping (Rashad, Tyree, and Aniya). In 1985, Willie returned to Rock Hill. Willie continued his career as a mechanic and hauling junk as well. In about 2012, Willie moved to Chester, SC where he purchased his first home. Willie went on to spend the rest of his days spending time with his family and best friend Brooklyn. Willie was called home on September 19, 2024, at MUSC Downtown Columbia Health, Hospital in Columbia, SC.
